“A dweller in the deep”
That is how he once called himself, and that is what he was. Vanan Rockbreaker dwelled deep in the halls and chasms of Khazad-Dum. Never have I seen a dwarf with such a heart for his ancestral grounds. Weeks he would spend there, sometimes even months. And whenever he returned, his axe would be dented and stained with black blood. But his eyes would sparkle and I knew this dwarf had overcome dangers others would have succumbed to, only to turn out victorious. And with him he would bring tales and stories of what had become of our former homestead, igniting the flame and fury of the younger dwarves. I accompagnied him various times through Moria, and there was little this dwarf didnt know about the mansion. He was a true son to the Baruk Khazad-Dum, and one who would take his vow the most serious.
But he hasnt returned from his latest endeavor, and I miss him greatly. Perhaps the foul orcs have finally gotten to him, and if not, who knows, he might still be wandering there. Thinking still of what Khazad-Dum once was, and what it could become again.
